Middle School

Cole Valley Christian Schools Middle School focuses on building a sense of community and belonging as students transition to the Middle and High School campus. Our B.A.R.N. Advisories (Building Authentic Relationships Now) are the hub of this approach as well as Grade Level Teams of teachers dedicated to the students of their respective grade levels to individually shepherd our students to help them grow. We provide classes at all levels to meet students where they are at academically. Our Middle School is comprised of 6th, 7th, and 8th grades with 6th grade joining this campus in the 2023-24 school year.

Each week, students will attend a Chapel specific to middle school and four times a week they meet with their B.A.R.N. Advisory groups to help grow spiritually and relationally. We take our 7th grade students on a retreat in late August to Cascade Raft & Kayak north of Horseshoe Bend to raft on the Payette River and participate in a high ropes course to star the year with opportunities to grow and encourage one another. 8th grade students attend a 3-day/2-night retreat at Quaker Hill Camp & Conference Center in McCall to provide opportunities for connection, growth and fun together. This retreat is led by some of our 11th and 12th grade students and opens the door for great mentoring opportunities. A 6th Grade Retreat in conjunction with Back-to-School Orientation is currently under development.

Middle School students are also able to begin competing on athletic teams representing CVCS. For 7th & 8th grade students we offer Volleyball, Football, Cross Country, Basketball, Ski Team, and Track & Field. They are also able to begin participating in Band and Color Guard. We have an extensive list of Middle School electives (see below) that foster the exploratory nature of this age group. We believe that when students are connected in extracurricular activities, their connection with others towards a common goal builds community and helps them grow.

Student and staff recognition: Middle School students are recognized each semester for the #ultimatecharger award with requirements in academics, fitness, and service/involvement. Click on the link below for more details. Students are also chosen by their peers in the spring for the “Fruit of the Spirit” award. One boy and one girl in each grade is recognized by their peers for the evidence of the Fruit of the Spirit in their daily walk as CVCS middle school students and followers of Christ. Also in the spring, staff chooses one to two students per grade level for the S.T.O.M.P. Award (Strength – Tenacity – Responsibility – Ownership – Maturity – Perseverance) as they show growth over the course of the school year. Finally, one staff member is recognized with the iconic Cowbell Award for going above and beyond the call of duty.

Our staff has a heart for pouring into students academically, but more importantly, spiritually. In this time of great change and growth, our teachers value having the opportunity to guide our students to help them reach their individual potential in Christ.
